On the afternoon of May 12th, the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, Tongji University, together with the Party Committees of the Sino-German College of Applied Sciences and the Institute of Vocational Education, launched a joint learning of themed education. The study of the Party Committee Central Group (expanded) and the fourth reading class was held in Huiwen Building. Researcher Cui Hongjian, Director of the Department for European Studies of China Institute of International Studies, was invited to deliver a specialized tutoring report entitled Chinese Path to Modernization and China-Europe Relations. Members of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, the Central Groups of the Party Committees of the Sino-German College of Applied Science, and the Institute of Vocational Education, as well as branch secretaries and members, student Party activists, and the potential members of the Party all participated in this study.
The report mainly revolves around how to understand the Chinese path to modernization and China-Europe relations. Cui Hongjian proposed that the Chinese path to modernization has gone through several stages, from passive modernization at the beginning to active modernization, through the later exploration of four modernizations, and to the new development of building a modern socialist country in all respects in the new era, and has realized the innovation of the theory and practice of Chinese path to modernization. On the basis of analyzing the interactive relationship between China and European countries in the modernization process, Cui interpreted the development process and prospects of China-Europe relations from three dimensions: historical logic, endogenous dynamics, and strategic choices.
Participants said that this report, in an easy-to-understand manner, provides a new perspective for a comprehensive understanding of the Chinese path to modernization, and brings the inspiration of how to tell the story of the Chinese path to modernization to the outside world, how to succeed in the practice of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and how to promote international and regional studies. The Party Committees will further advance the study and discussion of major theoretical and practical issues of the Chinese path to modernization in combination with the characteristics and development trends of disciplines, and strive to improve the high-quality development of the School's undertakings.
